Robert Langley started in Harlan, Kentucky as a rural shopping center developer and today owns office, retail and industrial real estate in Kentucky, North Carolina, and Alabama. Robert also owns several Texas Roadhouse franchises in Kentucky, West Virginia, and Western Pennsylvania.
Robert developed the first strip shopping center—Woodland Shopping Center—in his hometown of Harlan in 1974. After replicating his success with similar centers in Eastern Kentucky, Robert shifted his focus to redeveloping existing properties with great potential. In the late 1990s, Robert and his partners acquired the struggling Kincaid Towers office building and Lexington Green shopping development in Lexington, Kentucky. Today, those properties are the cornerstones of Robert’s real estate holdings and among the most recognizable properties in Central Kentucky.
Kincaid Towers, once considered a white elephant of Lexington’s central business district, underwent major renovations in 2001 and 2002 under Langley management. Renamed 300 West Vine, the property today is a hallmark of downtown Lexington and is home to many of the region’s top professional firms and businesses.
Lexington Green recently underwent its second phase of redevelopment under Robert’s ownership and is now one of the region’s top retail locations. Lexington Green is home to Joseph-Beth Booksellers, one of the Midwest’s largest bookstores; Whole Foods, Anthropologie and several upscale fashion tenants.
Scott Davidson joined Langley Properties Company as its Director of Operations in March 2012. His responsibility is to oversee the operations of the company in all areas including leasing, marketing and property management. The current portfolio consists of office, retail, and industrial properties in Kentucky, North Carolina and Alabama.
Prior to Joining Langley Properties, Scott served as a regional leasing and property management manager with TIC Properties Management LLC. He gained his early real estate experience as a Property Director with the publicly traded IPC US REIT.
Scott graduated from Eastern Kentucky University with a Bachelor of Science degree. He holds a Kentucky Real Estate Sales License and is a member of the National Association of Realtors, the Kentucky Association of Realtors, Commercial Property Association of Lexington (CPAL) and is active in the Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM) in Lexington where he is IREM’s Chapter Treasurer.
Scott enjoys golfing and spending time with his wife Audra and son Grant.
Gary is Of Counsel in Stoll Keenon Ogden's Lexington office. He is a member of the Real Estate Practice. Gary focuses his practice on transactional real estate, as well as commercial leasing. He also has extensive experience as lead counsel for major banks, developers, landlords and tenants.
Gary is AV® Preeminent™ Peer Review Rated by Martindale-Hubbell®, is listed in The Best Lawyers in America®, recognized by Chambers USA and is honored as a Kentucky Super Lawyer for his many legal accomplishments. He has served on the program planning committee for the UK/CLE Real Estate Law and Practice Institute for many years. He has also spoken at a number of UK/CLE sponsored seminars on various real estate issues. Gary has further participated as a speaker at multiple firm-sponsored seminars on issues ranging from environmental considerations in real estate transactions to limited liability companies as borrowers in real estate transactions.
Gary is a member of the Fayette County, Kentucky and American Bar Associations. Mr. Barr was educated at the University of Kentucky (B.A., 1974 and J.D., 1977). While attending the University of Kentucky College of Law, Mr. Barr was a member of Phi Delta Phi and of the Kentucky Law Journal.
Gary has extensive transactional experience as lead counsel for major banks, developers, landlords and tenants. He also has extensive experience acting as local counsel to out-of-state lenders in connection with multi-state transactions which include Kentucky real estate, and as local counsel to out-of-state lawyers whose clients have Kentucky real estate holdings.
Chuck Manson joined Langley Properties in February 2011 after a successful career as an entrepreneur and chief financial officer of a major communications company.
Chuck is responsible for the day-to-day accounting and finance operations of Langley Properties and the properties it manages. In addition, he oversees the company's technology functions.
A graduate of Vanderbilt University, Chuck also has an MBA from the University of Kentucky. After serving as general manager and controller for a Lexington-based publishing company, Chuck joined a data publishing company and played a key role in that company's transition to the Internet. From 2000-2008, he served as Vice President of Finance and Technology for Lexington-based Blood-Horse Publications.
Chuck enjoys bicycling, hiking and water sports and coaches youth baseball and basketball.
Alison Lance joined Langley Properties in 2010 and serves as the Bookkeeper for all of Langley’s Properties. Alison records the day-to-day financial transactions of every property including but not limited to accounts receivable, accounts payable and general ledger functions.
Prior to joining Langley Properties, Alison worked in accounting, leisure and hospitality industry for a local company. Alison comes to us with two decades of accounting experience. She is currently working toward her Bachelor Degree in Accounting.
Alison has three daughters, two dogs and enjoys rescuing animals, riding, reading and outdoor sports.
Melissa Robinson joined Langley Properties in 1999 and serves as the executive assistant to owner, Robert Langley.
In addition to serving as Robert Langley's Executive Assistant, Melissa also manages the company's office and oversees the company's human resources functions. Melissa is also responsible for preparing, filing and maintaining records for the many corporate entities within Langley Properties Company to ensure that the various business entities are in compliance with local and state laws. Melissa's attention to detail is a great asset to her role at Langley Properties.
Melissa attended the University of Kentucky for two years and graduated magna cum laude from Midway College with an Associate Degree in Paralegal Studies. Melissa is married and the mother of two daughters. She resides in Paris, Kentucky and enjoys sports, church activities and spending time with her family.
Jennifer James joined Langley Properties Company in 1986 and today serves as property manager of The Mall at Lexington Green shopping center in Lexington, Kentucky. Jennifer is responsible for the day-to-day management of Lexington Green which includes supervising contract and maintenance personnel, serving as primary contact for existing tenants, and assisting with leasing and fit-up for new tenants. She recently oversaw the center’s major renovation in 2011.
Jennifer attended Georgetown College and holds an Associate Degree in Accounting from Sullivan College. She has managed several of the company's office and retail properties during her 25-year career with the company.
She is married and the mother of two daughters. She is active in school and church activities and enjoys spending time with her family.
Angie Sims joined Langley Properties Company in 2004. Angie serves as property manager of Southside Square in Kernersville, North Carolina and The Pelican Place at Craft Farms in Gulf Shores, Alabama. As property manager, Angie is responsible for leasing, tenant relations, budgeting and marketing. Angie is currently taking classes to get her Certified Property Manager (CPM) designation.
Prior to coming to work for Langley Properties, Angie served as a benefit consultant for Unified Trust Company. She graduated magna cum laude from Kentucky College of Business with an Associate Degree in Business Management. Angie is a memeber of Institue of Real Estate Management (IREM) and International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC).
Angie lives with her son and dog in Versailles, Kentucky. She enjoys going to the beach, boating, traveling, helping with rescue dogs and spending time with friends and family.
Eric Witt serves as the property manager for the Langley Properties Company 300 West Vine building and the Capstone Distribution Center. Eric is also our resident construction consultant for which his experience in the construction industry is an asset to all of our properties.
While in the United States Air Force, he attended Texas Christian University and after serving in the military, finished his degree program in Business Management at Northern Kentucky University.
Eric joined Langley Properties in 2003 after an extensive career in construction and facilities management. Eric worked for Turner Construction in Columbus, Ohio where he was the MEP Superintendent / Engineer on a 1.1 million square foot addition at BankOne headquarters and on a 330,000 square foot Emergency Department / Heart Center / Medical Office Building at Riverside Methodist Hospital. Prior to working for Turner, Eric was the Facilities Manger for CellularONE for Ohio, with the responsibility of 45 locations throughout the state.
Eric and his wife, Kim, have two children, Eric Jr. and Katie. When he is not coaching or helping with the children's sports teams, Eric works on construction projects around the house and restoration of his 1940 Cadillac.
Catherine Owens joined Langley Properties in April 2012 as receptionist. She acts as a support staff for the entire Langley team and manages the company’s various marketing, web and social media efforts.
Catherine graduated from Eastern Kentucky University with a B.A. degree in paralegal science. While there, she won the program's Research and Writing Award and completed an internship at the Rockcastle County Attorney's Office. She lives with her husband in Versailles, KY and is an avid reader of 19th Century British Literature.
